Second Pregnancy

The first trimester theoretically should be over today.

How come I still feel sick all day? Insert dagger emojis.

Here are some fun things I have learned in the past 12 weeks:

  1. Second pregnancies are worse for everyone. Everyone has told me that they felt awful during their second. This should be a warning. This should be a known thing. Not a “oh you’re pregnant? you feel awful? Jokes on you, everyone does.”
  2. Out of breath by the time I get to the top of the stairs. I do not remember this happening this early in the first pregnancy, but I do remember it clearly towards the end of the last one.
  3. Your body can change and you can not gain a pound of weight. (new scale confirms this).
  4. Pregnancy brain starts earlier this time around.
  5. EVERYTHING HAPPENS SOONER AND EVERYTHING IS AWFUL.

It gets better? At least I can get pregnant? Side eye.

How Far Along: 12 weeks
Size of Baby: French Macaron
Total Weight Gain: So zero pounds. According to the scale, the new scale that I bought. 134 this morning. I’ll take it.
How am I doing: I’m fine. I’m exhausted and tired and antsy and anxious but too exhausted to do anything. I need to clean the house, and I need to do some grocery shopping, and I need a break. And I need to do something. So, I’m really in a conundrum here.
Movement: Nothing yet. But, from my previous posts it looks like I felt Anna around 14/15 weeks. I’ve heard with second babies women tend to feel them earlier (noticing a trend here?). So I’m thinking I should be able to feel it in the next couple of weeks.
Status of my Belly: It’s bloated and popped. I don’t know why this week it looks smaller than last week, but I am definitely in maternity pants these days.
Doctor’s Appointments: I have my second sonogram in one week. This one without the frustration as last time. And to disappoint you all–we still aren’t finding out the sex of our baby.

Eleven Weeks

I am so close to being out of the first trimester, just one more week. It’s the worst of all the trimesters. I promise you this. Coming from someone who has done this twice now.

Last weekend we had a lovely weekend at Disney World. Anna FINALLY has started hugging Disney characters on her own. I hope we aren’t worn out of Disney by the time we leave, but we still have 2 more scheduled trips and a few more months. Fingers crossed.

In other news, I have my first Doula client! She is due in March and this is her third baby, first doula. She really wants me to act as a bridge between her and a her husband (which was the same reason I wanted a doula). I am so excited to work with this family! And to attend my first birth as a doula. I have high hopes, and think that I am going to do GREAT. (Because of course).

Anyway, on to baby stuff!

How Far Along: 11 weeks
Size of Baby: Poker Chip
Total Weight Gain: I’m changing the batteries in our scale tonight, and if isn’t fixed, HELLO Amazon Prime. I look like I’ve gained some weight, but the scale says I haven’t.
Symptoms: Hungry. All the time.
Eats: I could not eat enough pickles or SpaghettiOs this week. In fact, I still haven’t eaten enough. I’ll probably open a can of SpaghettiOs for dinner tonight. Consider me a #foodie.
Best moment of the week: Disney with Anna. She’s really opening up into it and it’s a delight to watch.
What I’m looking forward to: Sunday we are swimming with manatees!! Eek!!
Milestones: As of today the baby is completely together and just needs to grow into its little body. Which means–I am so close to a glass of WINE. I can taste it. I cannot wait. I’m going to savor it and love it. It’s just been so stressful the past few weeks that I legit just need to relax/unwind.

Ten Weeks!

Hey guys! It’s Baby Tino. A real live adorable, little, munchkin face. (And ONLY ONE BABY).

I feel as though I climbed mountains to get that sonogram. Technically I have another one in about four weeks, but I am SO glad to have overcome mountains (literal mountains which included having some strangers pray for the miracle that was growing in my body).

I had the sonogram on Tuesday (12/2) and as of Tuesday, the baby was showing to be 10 weeks 1 day. So, since that’s CLOSE enough, I’ll just keep on track with my current progress.

(Also, in your face Doctors for not giving me one. According to your charts I am 9 weeks and 3 days, but SIZE matters).

How Far Along: 10 weeks
Size of Baby: Switching back to Parisian bakery this week and the baby is a the size of a petit four. (so cute and tiny!)
Total Weight Gain: I think our scale is broken. I stepped on it yesterday and it said I was 105 (at the last doctors office I was 134, so our scale is definitely broken, Christmas gift anyone?). I’ll guess two pounds.
Symptoms: We have reached pivotal hormones. I repeat. Peak hormones. Seek shelter. Find comfort in your loved ones.
Eats: Nothing particular, just need to eat. Like. All the time. Immediately upon waking up, right before bed, and all other hours of the day.
Best moment of the week: Sonogram. It’s just ONE BABY.
What I’m looking forward to: We are going to Disney to see the Christmas lights this weekend. I’m squeezing as much Disney in as we can.
Milestones: Finally looks like a baby on all the apps, and not a dinosaur. Teeth are growing, it’s fully dedicated to the placenta, and shim is doing backflips in there!
